Chicago Sunset: An Luxury Industrial Loft by B Place.

CHICAGO SUNSET is an apartment in the centre of Kiev where particular attention was paid to details, a vintage workbench and monstrously beautiful sunsets. On the verge of brutality and elegancy – that’s how we can characterize the spirit of the project in a luxury loft style.

luxury-industrial-loft-2

The 187 m2 flat is in a tall floor of the same-name residential complex and commands a panoramic view of the city. At the outset these were two separate apartments joined together with the division into the private and common zones preserved.

The common part of the flat presents an airy environment, a real mix of textures, styles and finishes joined together in a monochrome colour array of the interior. Metal partitions that incorporate hand-made ribbed glass separate the entry space with the wardrobe and guest sanitary conveniences from the kitchen, bar and parlour. Zoning of the space is achieved by the load-bearing columns which, as it was decided, remained unfinished – they support the metal opening leading to the personal half of the apartments. A vintage workbench from the Netherlands makes the focal point of the interior and serves as the bar counter. We took care about the comfort height of the old bar by putting the workbench on a metal construction. On the left side of the bar there is a built-in kitchen with a marble island with a split edge while on the right one finds a dining table illuminated with a unique luminaire – the Ochre factory balance. The divan zone offers a projector and an unbelievably comfortable relax armchair of Roche Bobois. The rattan facades of the commode housing a vinyl playback machine cover the acoustic system.

The private section of the flat includes a master zone, a guest room and laundry.  The bathroom is completely clad with travertine which makes an intricate stone pattern while the mirrored cloakroom that creates the effect of infinity has, in its centre, an ornate island presenting a show-case for jewelry. Wall-boards behind the bed head are made of aged mirrors that cover a storage system incorporating integrated seats arranged in the windows and lighting fittings for reading. The natural materials, dim lighting and dark ceiling of the bedroom invite to its main function of rest and refreshment.”

Japanese industrial interior design style has become popular in the last few years, and it has been gaining popularity for its simplicity, naturalness, and elegance. The modern Japanese interior design is characterized by a harmonious balance of soft colours with warm tones. It also features an emphasis on space, light, and airiness. The traditional Japanese home was designed to be simple and practical. In modern times, however, people are more interested in living spaces that are comfortable and elegant. This trend has led to many new styles, including the Japanese interior design style.

The 8 House studio has a great portofolio of Japanese Industrial interiors. The following are benefits of this style:

Japanese Industrial Interiors

japanese modern industial interior design kitchen

1. Simple yet sophisticated

This style offers a sense of calm and serenity. It emphasizes simplicity and harmony. A typical example of this style is the room shown here. Its white walls and wooden floors create a peaceful atmosphere. The furniture is simple and minimalistic. The only decorative item is a painting hanging on the wall. This room exudes a feeling of tranquillity and peace.

2. Natural and organic

Another characteristic of this style is its use of natural materials such as wood, stone, bamboo, or paper. These materials give rooms a natural appearance. They can be used to decorate any part of the house, from the floor to the ceiling. For instance, you can place a stone slab on your kitchen countertop. You can also hang a piece of bamboo in your bedroom. If you want to incorporate these elements into your own home, you must first determine what kind of material you prefer. If you like natural materials, choose one that will blend well with your existing décor.

3. Elegant and refined

This style is very different from other styles because it focuses on refinement rather than boldness and colour. It uses subtle shades of grey and brown. The combination of these two colours creates a soothing effect. Another element of this style is the use of clean lines. Clean lines make a room look spacious and open. They also provide a sense of order. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve this style. All you need is some creativity and patience.

4. Easy to maintain

Because this style relies heavily on natural materials, it requires little maintenance. However, if you decide to paint your walls, you should opt for a neutral shade of grey or brown. You can add a touch of warmth by using a darker tone. You can also apply a coat of varnish once every year to protect your walls. Japanese interior design style is always changing. As long as you keep up with the latest trends, you’ll never go wrong!

5. Easy to live with

If you’re looking for a style that’s easy to live with, then you’ve found it. Because this style doesn’t rely too much on bright colours, it won’t distract you from everyday activities. You can easily relax in this type of room. And since there aren’t many items in this room, you won’t feel overwhelmed when you enter it. Interestingly, this style is that it’s often combined with other styles. For example, you may combine it with French style, known for its colourful accents. Or you could mix it with Asian style, which is known to feature minimalist décor. Whatever style you choose, just remember that you shouldn’t force yourself to follow a particular style. Instead, let your personality shine through.

Conclusion

Japanese Industrial Interior Design Style is always popular among people interested in creating an elegant and relaxing environment. It’s not difficult to achieve this style. You just need to find inspiration and start working on your project. Once you finish, you’ll enjoy living in a space that reflects your taste.

“From its inception, our vision for the showroom was multidimensional: freedom of creative expression, supporting our community, & inspiring our clients.

We wanted an ever changing space to freely design & create in without confinement…as most designers know, you don’t always get to bring your full vision to life on projects for various reasons…and the process of creating was magical and hard. Being your own client is no joke. But we’re beyond about the future possibilities of this ever evolving space!

We wanted a space to showcase our community. We can’t do what we do without the artisans we partner with that share our core ethos and continue to do the hard work of creating hand-crafted, ethical pieces with soul. It’s hard to create goods with a deep level of care when big box stores can sell *much shittier* products for cheap. But these artisans are the reason we’re able to create unique, artfully curated spaces and they deserve recognition (hello Agra rug in Juniper by @armadilloandco bringing the richness we dreamed of to this space!)

And lastly, we wanted a space to host our amazing clients! As we’ve already seen since the completion of the showroom just a couple months ago, discussing design with clients while in an inspiring space inspires THEM through a greater level of trust to allow us to go further on their projects…to keep pushing for something more in the design of their own spaces.

We’re excited to see what the future of this space will bring and the new partnerships it will create.”

Rustic and Modern and Industrial, Oh My!

When it comes to finding the perfect design style, a real crowd-pleaser is the Modern Rustic Industrial style. It is a unique approach to interior design that has something for everyone. Smooth and sleek lines juxtaposed with warm wood tones and brick textures make it hard for anyone to find a qualm with this accommodating style. Designed by Oh Beauty Interiors, this home is the epitome of the Modern Rustic Industrial style.

Industrial Bones

Stained concrete floors provide an industrial parallel to the bare concrete ceilings acting as bookends to this eclectic room. The exposed brick wall also infuses an industrial feel but with warmer red tones. The exposed pipes throughout provide the perfect industrial addition to the room without overwhelming the other styles.

Modern Vibes

The modern touches of this room include the sleek and geometrical accent furniture and lighting fixtures. The entry table, coffee table, and end tables provide flawless ninety-degree angles, while the kitchen table is circular with a modern black finish. The circular shape of the table is echoed by the circular dome light fixture hanging above it, as well as the circular mirror above the entryway table. The finishing touches throughout the living room also add to the modern vibes. The spherical light fixture above the coffee table provides a modern contrast to the various ninety-degree angles on the bookshelves.

Warm Woods

To finish out this distinctive style, warm rustic touches balance out the cool modern pieces. The driftwood bench under the window, the wood doors of the entryway table, and the wooden chairs around the modern table are all critical to the delicate balance of this style. Rustic vibes can all so be found in the accent decor such as the greenery on the coffee table, the eucalyptus on the kitchen counter and the pampas grass in the back corner of the room.

If you’re looking for a style that has a little bit of everything but creates a distinctive style of its own without a thrown together look, then the Modern Rustic Industrial style is exactly what you need. Accentuating the existing industrial feel of the room, you can add modern touches with sleek geometric furniture and light fixtures. To give the room a bit of warm and coziness, add warm wood tones throughout and finish with a comfy couch and statement accent chairs. You’ll have a Pinterest-worthy room in which everyone wants to spend their day.

DINING AREA

The place where people eat and have a good time filling their stomachs is a tasty blend of industrial, modern, and rustic chic. The dining table is made of fine dark wood but the chairs have steel body frames that are covered with leather and other fine materials with cuddly cushion pillows scattered around the place. The place is well ventilated and lighted by the white wooden windows with slits where natural light and air comes in. These white wooden windows also seem to serve as the walls of the dining area because there seems to be no walls – only windows. And plants…oh green plants. They seem to be everywhere in this dwelling that Michéle lovingly designed on the insides.

LOUNGE AND KITCHEN

In the lounge area, there is a free flowing mix of black and white pictures framed on the wall and green plants all around the place. This conveys a message of going back to basics, and returning to the good old vintage times when everything was more nature based. To enhance the natural setting, there is this basket down below (that maybe holds native fabrics) and a roundish ornament on top of the table which both have an ethnic attractiveness to them since they are made of materials native to the tropics.

The blending in of the wood body of the stove at the kitchen in the back plus the wooden chopping board made as an ornament on the wall on top of the stove and also the wooden drawer in the front (in the lounge area) adds to the natural and relaxing feel.

BEDROOM

Be amazed by the elevated bed in the room that can be accessed by 4 stair steps made of grainy wooden planks. On the elevated space below the bed, it is put to good use wisely as a storage area in the form of steel see through closets with wooden tops. There is a big Z jutting out of the wall at one side of the room, maybe representing the name of the room occupant or something important in the life of that person.

There are green plants strategically placed by the side of the bed, on a stair step, and on the sill of the window facing the bed. These plants are pleasant because they are representatives of naturalness inside the room which gives out free oxygen.

London Warehouse turned into industrial home by house UP.  houseUP in London, was created when Vinz met Mike’s professional excellence. Vinz spent a year stalling, wasting time and money and stressing out before meeting Mike on a football pitch and learning he was a construction professional. Mike took charge of the refurbishment project of Vinz’ London flat, and delivered a superior quality job in 8 weeks.

During the time spent together on the site, they kept sharing ideas on what a really successful innovative construction business should be.

They soon realised they could make it happen, and leverage their experience to change the construction industry and introduce an entirely new approach.

And they founded houseUP, the digital construction company.

Industrial Cast Iron Soho Loft designed by Becky Shea.

Tucked away in Soho overlooking lower Manhattan’s skyline, a beautiful cast iron front is included with this landmark early 20th century building that predates steel’s rise to supremacy.  With bones to prove its authenticity, this loft is equipped with the original elevator opening directly into the living space appointed with original timber beams and columns, pine lentils above each window and refurbished radiators. Another dope client who has shifted the tech space gave us the platform to do what we do best. We managed the 2,800 square foot full floor renovation that required serious know-how on original architecture and how to refurbish elements we felt were critical to the authenticity of Soho’s design ethos. We salvaged all the brick and timber by carefully chipping away inches of stuko, sandblasted and repainted all of the radiators in a deep space black, introduced new floors, but kept the signature 2 ¼” width, stripped and exposed the stairwell and elevator door to its true steel form, and opened the space to be an adaptable, open concept unit, down from 7 small rooms. Blackened steel compliments the warm natural materials throughout while all of the furnishings were layered in as the build unfolded, including some elements our client procured while traveling.  Ensuring our client’s investment would be maximized, the plans are already drawn to add an additional bedroom and closets. The result is a spacious, welcoming home for enjoying a warm cup of tea and a nice book in the meditation room or for entertaining family and friends on a special occasion.

Exceptional persons are those who can change something from nothing to something, from ruins to restoration. That is what one couple Astrid and Wesly, did to an old factory in Gilze, Netherlands. They joined heads to transform this old factory into an elegant, livable home.

The house still maintains its rustic theme, but it has been integrated perfectly with a modern touch to enhance the atmosphere. Most of the walls are painted white, while other sections maintain the old-fashioned red-brown bricks.

A nature-friendly space

Initially, Wesly and Astrid wanted a place with a unique atmosphere. Their dreams were fulfilled when they came across this old factory. As lovers of nature, they wanted to make it as livable as possible while still adjusting it to meet their preferred style.

Wood is used in most of the areas in this home; starting from the floor to the ceiling. The staircase that links the ground and first floor are also made of a light-brown wood, and there is a wooden chest, along with an inbuilt cabinet in the living room. Most of the furniture are wooden, except for the brown leather sofa. And other metallic accessories.

There is also a hanging heavy wooden swing that is meant for relaxing while taking a view outside. Plenty of plants and flowers are also used in different areas of the house.

An interconnected house

Wesly and Astrid had an intention of making the entire house as single and connected as possible. They wanted to make communication around the house easy. For this, they have separated some rooms with glass walls. When you enter through the front door, you can view almost every area of the house with ease. The use of glass walls also makes the house brighter by allowing natural light to flow freely. There is limited use of light fixtures, meaning that the house is also quite energy efficient.

The couple seems to be favorites of white and brown colors since these are the most dominant colors all across the house.

Lines, vertical and horizontal, are prominent throughout this modern apartment design from wooden flooring to the intricate wall details, to brilliant lighting fixtures. Black never falters to create a striking statement, as seen in kitchen cupboards and cabinetry, doors, curtains, and various other state-of-the-art accents.

The industrial setting is far from looking dull, for blackish and grayish shades are beautifully brought to life by the color of everyday things and activities. Patterns are scanty, but they’re remarkably sprinkled throughout the home. Bathroom floors, shower curtains, hallway flooring, kitchen tiles, and contemporary ceiling lamps each have its own unique style.

Wall shelves arrive in the elegant two-toned light and dark, brown and black combination for attractive organization of books, decor, and personal collections. Huge works of art that inspire, the lovely quilted chairs and comfortable couch alongside a scenic view of the outdoors produces a relaxing atmosphere.

Williamsburg Industrial Home

Young, soon-to-be married couple Hope Holland and Reed Fawley recently moved in the New York City neighborhood. Day one after this milestone in life, they called in Becky Shea from Homepolish and ventured together to work wonders on the 1-bedroom apartment.

Very few would say outright that they love their place of work, and Hope is one of the rare cases people truly do appreciate their job and work space. She’s one exception, partly credited to the fact that she actually works at ClassPass in a lovely office that resulted from a Homepolish makeover. She knew right then and there that they’d be perfect for her and fiance Reed’s new place.

Their Williamsburg apartment has been built with a typical Brooklyn foundation- weathered exposed brick walls, high ceilings, time-old wood beams, and black steel framed windows. Homepolish superstar of residential projects, Shea, worked with the couple to transform the space into a home sweet home that bridges each their own styles. She was geared to maximizing the entirety of the space by incorporating living, dining and entertainment spaces. The outcome? An industrial chic apartment with a flair for craft and a contemporary look, filled with an air of relaxation much like the couple’s youthful vibe.

Living Room

A cozy and warm ambiance wraps around the person who enters the living room, with natural light from the huge windows and white walls brightening the area. Backed against the corner is a large West Elm sectional couch lined with a number of throws and blankets. At the other end is a TV mounted on the wall, placed above a reclaimed wood credenza. The unique storage matches the exposed beams high above, while its modern white frame fits the whole theme perfectly.

Dining Area

The dining space is comprised of mismatched chairs pulled together to blend quite well with everything else. Modern black and rustic wood furniture is complemented by similar-shade accents and tableware. The pieces are reminiscent of Eames style and Wagner classics in the wishbone chair. The stainless steel appliances backed with colorful patterned tiles spell elegance in every way, enhanced with the stylish open shelving’s impressive design.

Plains, prints and texture are present altogether, like what’s seen on the remarkable display ladder for a lively setting, with the added vibrance of potted plants and beautiful succulents. Mirrors in different sizes and shapes with the round ones hung by ropes on cast iron, adorable wall hangings, woven baskets, and intricate rugs grace sophistication throughout the apartment.
