Polishing Vintage Rough Diamond into a Lovely, Comfortably Livable Apartment

vintage Scandinavian apartment with character

A bit of splash and a combo of vintage furniture and custom design can always turn even the most drab of living areas into comfortable and roomier spaces. The interior décor of the Scandinavian home depicted here below, lends credence to this statement. The result of the uplift transformed the living spaces from drab cramped rooms to well-lit, functional and beautiful areas. Functionality is a key theme here and every room, the dining area included, are huge on functional décor that is beautiful and accommodating.

The living room, by far the focus of the home, now has well-scrapped wood flooring, partially covered by a thick rug with a simple design and a collection of vintage furniture. The said furniture consists of a simple sofa whose design and colors, contrast well to capture the essence of this whole living area. The windows however, remain the highlight of this living room. Their opulence does ensure the room gets adequate natural light and as such, appears bright and even roomier than it actually is.

The functionality of the living room, another concern of the owners, is evident from the other additions and improvements available. The floor to ceiling bookcase for instance, serves as a mini study and houses the home’s supply of firewood. The dark wood, industrial lamps and additional furniture from the gone era further accentuate the ambiance here. The result is lighter and airier décor that draws even more beauty from brass and marble additions.

The home that the owners say had no character at first, now boasts of a functional kitchen with a new sink and decent shelving to take in utensils while accentuating the overall beauty of this cooking area. Moreover, it too benefits from the adequate lighting made possible by the opulent windows. The combination of matching tiles, white cabinetry and the white hue on the wall does help make it as bright as it possible can be.

The home has a kitchen, dining room and living room on the lower level and two bedrooms on the upper region. The staircase that joins these two areas is stark contrast of the rooms in both levels. The glass and wood combo on this staircase gives a futuristic appeal that is both beautiful as it is appropriate. The artwork that dons the walls, only add to an already classy taste that seemingly took some thinking.

Making a beautiful living space and more so from an old construction sometimes is never easy. In most instances though, remodeling processes that aim to create such beauty only need to concentrate on bringing the character to light…like the owners of this apartment did.
